Patient Testimonial

Billie Metcalf

“I recommend Van Matre to anyone who needs rehab,” says Billie. “Because they are such a caring place, they work hard to get you back on your feet.  I came in sitting in a wheelchair and walked out about 3 weeks later.”

Billie Metcalf, a hairdresser since 1970, suffered a stroke in 2005 at the age of 61.

“I remember lying in my bed in intensive care at the acute care hospital listening to my husband talking with my nurse,” she recalled. “My nurse was telling my husband to ‘get her in the best rehab he can as soon as he can.’ After I heard that, I yelled out them, ‘I want to go to Van Matre!’”

“The nurses are wonderful and the therapists are great,” said Billie. “If you are willing to work hard to get home they will work with you to meet your goals. I never met an unkind person while I was there. They even helped me hook up my laptop so I could keep in contact with my friends in North Carolina.”
