Angela Bergman

Angela Bergman, RN BSN CRRN

Interim Chief Executive Officer

Angela has been employed by HealthSouth since 2004 when she began as a certified nursing assistant.  She has also worked as a registered nurse and PPS coordinator before taking the director of quality position in 2013. Angela holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Anthony College of Nursing, as well as a bachelor’s degree in agriculture- animal science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management 

Dr Ricardo Knight

Ricardo Knight, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Knight completed his medical degree at the State University of New York in Buffalo, NY. He underwent residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA with a combined program in physical medicine and rehabilitation and internal medicine. He also has a master's of business administrtaion from University of Chicago. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

 Ricardo Knight, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Timothy Anderson

Prior to working for Van Matre HealthSouth Rehab Hospital, Tim worked nine years in the healthcare industry, specifically six years as controller for Medical Center at Elizabeth Place, a 26 bed medical-surgical hospital and three years as finance manager for Kettering Network Home Care. He also spent twenty years in various finance/process improvement positions in the automotive industry. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in management from Bowling Green State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University.

Director or Marketing Operations

Michele has more than a decade of experience in healthcare with focus in the areas of home care, hospice, marketing and business development, along with payer and physician relations. She earned an undergraduate degree in communication disorder work from Northern Illinois University and has a MBA in health care management from University of Phoenix. 

Jantra Pirojna

Pirojna Jantra, MD


Dr. Jantra has been an attending physician at Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital since 1994. He completed his medical degree at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. He underwent internship at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital and residency at University of Illinois and Affiliated Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and certified in electrodiagnostic medicine.

Pirojna Jantra, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Chrisi Karcz

Chrisi Karcz

Chief Nursing Officer

Chrisi brings more than 20 years’ nursing experience across the continuum of care to her role as chief nursing officer including orthopedic, trauma, and post-acute care. Since 2002, she has been credentialed as an orthopedic nurse certified. She graduated from Broward Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing and Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Presently, Chrisi is finishing a master’s degree in nursing clinical leadership through Saint Xavier University. She is a member of AALTCN and NAON.

Tonya Markert

Tonya Markert, PT, DPT

Director of Therapy Operations

Tonya has practiced in the field of physical therapy for more than 10 years. She began her career with Van Matre HealthSouth in 2006, beginning as a staff physical therapist. Tonya holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Clarke University and doctor of physical therapy from Temple University. Tonya is a Neuro-IFRAH certified therapist.

Dorothy Richardson

Dorothy Richardson

Human Resources Director

A graduate of the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Dorothy brings 12 years of human resources and management experience to her role; four of which were as a human resources director over four federally qualified healthcare clinics in southern Wisconsin prior to joining Van Matre in 2015. Her expertise includes contract and benefit negotiations, systems integration, cost control, policy and process development, compensation administration, recruiting, training, performance and career development, and employee relations. 

Rozman Anotoly

Anatoly Rozman, MD

Brain Injury Program Medical Director

Dr. Rozman has been an attending physician at Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital since 2002. He graduated from St. Petersburg State Medical Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. He is board certified in PM&R and has a PhD in rehabilitation and sports medicine.
